Bio

In addition to her work with Spexsearch, Lynn B. Ogden is Managing Director of Essential Mastery, a talent management company with global perspective and a distinct Asian flavor. She has a passion for aligning talent strategy with business performance and developing authentic leaders.  She brings an effective blend of management consulting in emerging markets, global executive search, leadership assessment and executive and career coaching gained over twenty-five years in Asia and the U.S. Her inspiration is to impact and shape organization's culture, one executive at a time.

 

Lynn is a Retained Executive Search Subject Matter Expert and Senior Advisor for the International Center for Executive Options (ICEO) with Lee Hecht Harrison in New York. Lynn’s executive search experience includes over 25 years as a Partner at leading global executive search firms working in the US and Asia, recruiting and consulting across a broad spectrum of senior executives in the consumer products, supply chain/logistics, retail/fashion, entertainment, life sciences, technology and media industries among others.  She brings a deep understanding of all aspects of the executive search process and proven expertise as a trusted advisor and consultant supporting clients in developing effective strategies that lead to successful career transitions.

 

From 2015 to 2018, Lynn was a bi-coastal Partner in Boyden’s New York Metro and San Francisco offices leading searches in the consumer, life sciences and social impact sectors. She trained as Vice President/Engagement Leader for Senn Delaney, part of Heidrick & Struggles.

 

For 1988 - 2008, Lynn was Senior Client Partner & Regional Market Leader, Asia/Pacific Consumer Market Korn Ferry International (NYSE:KFY), the leading global executive search firm, where she managed over 550 search assignments over her 20-year tenure based in Hong Kong and San Francisco. She led a 30 person cross-cultural team across Asia-Pacific.  Clients included Fortune 500 multinationals, early-stage and mid-cap companies as well as founders and investors with new business concepts. She worked in emerging markets both geographically and by product, and extensively with joint ventures.

 

Her clients include Nancy’s Yogurt/Springfield Creamery, Big Mouth, Vitaquest, Sprint Connect, Coca-Cola, Colgate, Richemont, Fila, iReality Group, Western Union, Viacom, Turner Broadcasting, Seagram, Bristol-Myer Squibb, Avon, Blockbuster, Donna Karan, Payless Shoes, Coach, Nike, Disney/BVI, Chanel, CNBC Asia, Tiffany, DFS Group, Omnicom, American Chamber of Commerce and Lee Kum Kee as well as Legacy Health System, Pre-Cash Inc., EB Brands, Mark Ecko Enterprises, AETN International, McCann Worldgroup, Clarins, Lear Corporation, The Ford Family Foundation and the University of Oregon.

 

During her early career, Ms. Ogden worked in strategic market consultancy at Technomic Consultants Asia. She began her career in supply chain/logistics for Santa Fe Transport International based in Beijing in 1985.

 

A Mandarin speaker, Lynn holds a BA in Asian Studies from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and a Masters in Buddhist Studies from The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, SAR, China. In Hong Kong, she served on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce from 1997 to 2002, the Development Board of the Chinese International School from 2003 to 2006 and as a founding Patron of the Society of Aids Concern. 

 

She currently serves on the Board of Self-Enhancement Inc. and Maitripa College in Portland, OR, and on the Alumni Board of Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. She is an accredited coach, and is proficient in basic Mandarin and French.  She has training and certification in Decision Dynamics, Lominger competency-based assessment tools and TILT360. 

 

A frequent traveler, she lives with her family in Portland, Oregon and enjoys yoga, hiking, skiing, mindfulness and connecting people with ideas and new opportunities.
